Sagar Anupindi

SECOND OBOE/ENGLISH HORN

Sagar Anupindi is an award-winning oboist and chamber musician based in Kansas City, MO. In 2025, he was awarded the Second Prize in the International Double Reed Society’s Fernand Gillet-Hugo Fox Competition. As of the 2026–2027 season, Sagar holds positions in the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra as Second Oboe & English Horn and in the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra as Third Oboe & English Horn. Sagar is an avid chamber musician, currently performing with the Plaza Winds, UMKC’s Graduate Fellowship Woodwind quintet. He co-founded the Vanguard Reed Quintet, with whom he won the Silver Medal at the 2018 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Sagar is presently pursing a Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Missouri, Kansas City Conservatory. Originally from Ann Arbor, MI, Sagar holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre, and Dance and a Master of Music from the Eastman School of Music. Sagar’s principal teachers include Nermis Mieses, Nancy Ambrose King, Richard Killmer, and Celeste Johnson.
