Max Vinetz

2027 COMPOSER OF THE YEAR ‍

MaxVinetz is a composer and bassist whose music draws inspiration and meaning fromthe intersections of improvisatory, popular, and traditional forms. He is arecipient of a Fromm Foundation Commission, two ASCAP Morton Gould Awards, thePaul and Christiane Cooper Prize, and the Gardner Prize from the American ViolaSociety. His music has been featured at festivals including the MizzouInternational Composers Festival, Norfolk New Music Workshop, Fontainebleau,and Brevard Music Center, and has been performed and recorded by the JACKQuartet, Arditti Quartet, Sō Percussion, Ensemble Dal Niente, Mivos Quartet,Music From Copland House, and the New York Youth Symphony, among many others. Agraduate of Yale and Rice University's Shepherd School of Music, he is pursuinghis PhD in composition at Princeton University as a Naumburg Doctoral Fellow.
