James Ehnes

JamesEhnes has established himself as one of the most sought-after musicians on theinternational stage. Gifted with a rare combination of stunning virtuosity,serene lyricism, and unfaltering musicality, he is a favorite guest of theworld's most celebrated orchestras, with recent highlights including the RoyalConcertgebouw Orchestra, London Philharmonic, NHK Symphony, Los AngelesPhilharmonic, Boston Symphony, Chicago Symphony, and The Cleveland Orchestra. Adevoted chamber musician, he is Artistic Director of the Seattle Chamber MusicSociety and leader of the Ehnes Quartet. His extensive discography has earnedtwo Grammy Awards, three Gramophone Awards — including Artist of the Year in2021 — and twelve Juno Awards. He made his orchestral debut with the Orchestresymphonique de Montréal at 13 and studied at the Meadowmount School of Musicand The Juilliard School. A Member of the Order of Canada, he is Professor ofViolin at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music and performs on the"Marsick" Stradivarius of 1715.
