The Sioux City Symphony Orchestra Association is grateful to announce a generous donation from the David and Barbara Holtze Legacy Fund. This historic gift will expand the Symphony’s ability to fulfill its mission of changing lives in Siouxland through innovative performances, educational programs, and outreach.

David and Barbara Holtze shared deep roots in the Sioux City community. Through the Holtze family’s longstanding involvement in local business and Barbara’s dedication to education and community life, their legacy reflects a commitment to the city and its future. Their extraordinary gift to the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra extends that legacy, helping ensure that artistic excellence, music education, and meaningful cultural experiences remain an essential part of Siouxland for generations to come.

“A legacy gift is an act of faith in a future its giver will never see. It says that music shared together matters, and that it will still matter to the young musician hearing a full orchestra for the first time, to neighbors finding one another at the Orpheum, and to generations not yet born. We are humbled by that trust, and we intend to honor it by making this orchestra matter to more people, in more ways, than ever before,” said Sam Pavel, Executive Director.

“Throughout my years with the Sioux City Symphony, I have witnessed firsthand what is possible when artistic ambition is met with a community that truly believes in its orchestra,” said Ryan Haskins, Music Director. “This extraordinary gift is a powerful affirmation of that belief and of the important role music plays in the cultural life of our community. It allows us to dream bigger, push artistic boundaries, and pursue opportunities that will continue to elevate the musical experiences we create. Above all, it is an investment in an even more vibrant artistic future for this orchestra and the generations who will experience it.”

“We are deeply thankful to receive this legacy from David and Barbara Holtze,” said Richard Kunz, President of the Board of Directors. “It will make a lasting impact at all levels of our organization.”
