Program Notes by Michael Keelan
Michael Keelan is music director for Kansas Public Radio at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, where he hosts classical music weekday mornings. This includes live performance and interview features. He is also the orchestral conductor at Ottawa University in Kansas.
Previously, Michael was a member of the Omaha Symphony’s violin section and hosted music on NET, Nebraska’s National Public Radio network.
He was guest concertmaster of Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra in 2012, and the previous year was soloist with the Sioux City Symphony in Corigliano’s Red Violin Chaconne. From 2004 to 2013 he played as concertmaster of the Green Bay, WI Symphony.
From 2004-08 he served as artist/instructor of upper strings at the Wausau Conservatory in central Wisconsin, and conducted youth orchestras both there and in Green Bay. Michael Keelan is a graduate of the University of Maryland-College Park and Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music in Ohio.
