(Sean) Michael Keelan
Michael Keelan began his career while still a high school student with the professional orchestras of Lincoln and Omaha in his native Nebraska, besides his own musical family. He received a bachelor of music degree summa cum laude at Baldwin-Wallace College’s Conservatory of Music (Berea, OH) and a master of music degree from the University of Maryland, College Park. From 2002-04 he was a violinist with the Fairfax Symphony, Washington, D.C.’s leading regional professional orchestra.
Mr. Keelan served from 2004-08 as an artist faculty member in violin, viola, and conducting at the Wausau (WI) Conservatory of Music. He is in his seventh season as concertmaster of the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra and is also principal second violin of Appleton’s Fox Valley Symphony. He has appeared regularly as a soloist and clinician for numerous Wisconsin organizations, including the Wausau Symphony and Lawrence Academy of Music, and performed with the Milwaukee Chamber Orchestra. Last summer he was a faculty member at Baldwin-Wallace College’s summer music institute. He judges regional and state string competitions, and his solo playing has been featured on Nebraska Public Radio, Wisconsin Public Radio’s “Live from the Chazen,” as well as their Ideas Network.
